However, the challenging environmental conditions, characterized by scorching summer temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius and freezing winter temperatures below -10 degrees, present significant obstacles. These conditions necessitate forced irrigation for farming in the arid landscape.
The AKRSP Dry Fruit Project, now known as Mountain Fruits (pvt) limited, plays a vital role in transforming the lives of these communities. By training farmers in advanced fruit processing techniques, the project helps convert fresh produce into valuable dried commodities that meet international standards. The result is improved stability and food safety compared to traditional drying methods. Additionally, farmers receive training in enhanced agricultural practices, enabling increased production on the limited available land. The project also focuses on finding markets for the farmers' products, thereby generating income streams for impoverished communities through the sale of their enhanced goods.
